COLD WATER- That was fun!
Today after a brief moment of working on our boat my sister (Michaela) and teammate (Amanda), went to our favorite early swimming spot to begin our official cold water training for the year. Michaela really doesn’t need to train in cold water, but there is a possibility the water may be cold when she tries to break my record on Lake Erie, so she needs to be prepared.
Today it was 51 degrees and COLD. I hopped in first and Michaela joined me a few minutes later. Mom was on land with my teammate, Amanda. It took me about 7 minutes to get in and get comfortable. Then by 10 minutes I was able to relax into my stroke and begin swimming comfortably.
It was an awesome start to open water season. I can’t wait until I am able to swim in open water every day again. I spent 35 minutes doing laps after this.
The best was at the end when all of us hopped in and my mom tried to take a picture. Amanda is not used to 51 degree water, but she jumped in until we got the right picture!
