Comments:

Michaela completed 19.5 laps of a 397 meter route at Gulliver’s Lake. The water was 63-65 and completely flat. There was no obvious current present and no wind. The water warmed as the day went on.

Michaela took just over an hour and a half to relax and pick her speed up. She started swimming at 2 km/hour and picked it up to 2.3-2.7 km for the rest of the time.

Michaela played in the water for at least 25 minutes with her sister at the conclusion of her swim. She did not display any symptoms of being cold or mildly hypothermic, but it was very clear about 15 minutes into driving back to St. Catharines, she had after-drop. There was not a thermometer present to verify. She shivered for approximately 20 minutes and then was fine. She appeared comfortable when arriving home. She cleaned her room and completed homework. It would appear she was not fatigued from the swim or from experiencing after-drop.

Gulliver’s Lake is a 14-acre lake that is spring-fed by artesian wells. Michaela swam up and down a 390-395 metered line 19.5 times. There was no accompanying vessel with her. She swam with my mom and I throughout the day and we watched her inspire those around her for hours! We swam out her feeds to her throughout the swim! Lesson for the day- ALWAYS have a support vessel!

Her feeding plan is very simple. She used Vitargo sweetened with coconut water and kool aid and used vega hydrolysate for her electrolyte. Each feed was 300 ml and was taken every 30 minutes, ensuring she had electrolytes every hour.
